Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Everyone is having so much fun at Senior Connections! When 41 members show up on a Wednesday after two days of bad weather and the Center being closed, it shows that they have missed coming to be with their friends, have a laugh and share a warm meal. The numbers are indicators that Senior Connections is doing the right thing, for the right reason.

FCF Community Health Fund taking grant applications

Schulenburg Library Foundation receives donation

The Rene Elenga Meyer Endowed Fund received a generous contribution from Donna Hartman in memory of her sister Rene and stepfather Herbert Pauler. Donna Hartman and the Schulenburg Library Foundation Inc. set up the endowment fund in 2019 in order to provide a permanent source of enrichment at the Schulenburg Public Library.

Texas Exes food drive benefits local food pantry

The Fayette County Texas Exes are having a food drive to support the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry. All are welcome to donate, and nonperishable food items can be dropped off through Saturday, Feb.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Stanzel Family Foundation donates to two groups

The Stanzel Family Foundation reaffirms its commitment to community development by awarding grants to two impactful organizations, Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) and BRIDGE (Building Resilience Inclusion Diversity & Growth thru Education). These grants will support the operations of both organizations as they strive to create inclusive and vibrant communities through the arts and connection.

God’s Embrace Ministries sets retreat March 1-3

This Lent, God’s Embrace Ministries will offer a weekend retreat from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3 at Cathedral Oaks Retreat Center locatd at 1225 CR 248 southwest of Weimar. The theme, “Passion of Christ, Strengthen Me,” will explore the strength and comfort people can find in the suffering of the cross.

Eucharistic Holy Hour to be held at Dubina Church

On Saturday, Feb. 10, Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina, the pilgrimage church of the Diocese of Victoria, will open its doors to pilgrims from near and far to take part in a Eucharistic Holy Hour at 11 a.m.
