Public invited to lecture on PTSD in Columbus on May 9

The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley announces that Dr. Michael Fuller will present a community lecture titled “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Conditions” at its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 9 at noon at the Colorado County Courthouse in Columbus. This presentation is open to the public and is intended to increase awareness of this common, disabling and often unrecognized condition.

Jade (left) and Duke (right) came to the shelter together. They would do well in a home together, but they would blossom separately as well. They are Shar Pei mixes, about 5 months old. They are friendly and at the perfect age to find a family of their own – the shelter is not a place for these puppies to spend their youth. They are about 35 to 40 pounds.

Benefit for Jimmy & Cindy Carter slated

A benefit barbecue pork steak dinner for Jimmy and Cindy Carter will be held on Friday, May 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.
